Editor’s note: This is a 2015 blog post. If you are visiting for the first time, please understand some shops may have closed or the rows are no longer available. You can still enjoy the beauty of the rows and the layout pattern can still be accessed at the end of the blog post.
New for Row by Row Experience. An Advent Quilt.
Starting December 1, we’ll post a row every day for 20 days on our Studio Facebook page. Back here in the blog we’ll add it to our quilt design wall and watch it come together.
All the rows are from 2015’s Row by Row H2O. Each row was chosen to give the finished quilt a lake and lodge flavor. A cozy change from summertime’s H2O fun.
Christmas is a special season in the quilt making community. It’s the best time of year to share the “work of our hands” with family and friends as we prepare for the celebration of the Nativity of Jesus.
Our quilt is a blend of Advent calendar and Advent wreath. The rows form a wreath shape and it has only 20 rows instead of the traditional 25 countdown days. Yet, it still embraces the spirit of expectant waiting and preparation.
Our Advent Quilt is an actual quilt you can make. You may not have the same rows we used. But, the layout works well with any rows you may have collected on your travels this summer. As shown, it finishes at 108″ x 111″ for a thick, queen mattress or a standard king size.
All the rows in our Advent Quilt are the most common 9″ x 36″ finished size. If your rows are not 9″ tall, add strips to the top or bottom to build them up to the 9″ finished size.
Be sure to “Like” our Facebook page to see all the rows in our Advent Quilt. “Like” and comment often so Facebook knows you want to follow us. Then check back here in the Studio blog to see the quilt grow as the rows are added. Find the Facebook page here.

It’s a virtual quilt and has not been assembled to proof the pattern. If you see any errors, write to me at email@example.com or leave a comment below.
