Quilters are generous people and Row by Row Experience® appreciates and supports that generosity with The 9th Row program.
All shops and rowers are giving back to those in need when participating in The 9th Row. Since 2016, participating Row by Row shops may make a donation and receive the complete pattern for The 9th Row. The shops offer The 9th Row patterns in kits and proceeds from the kit sales are donated to a charity of their choice. In addition, Row by Row Experience donates all proceeds from The 9th Row shop registrations to an annual charity.
This year, the Row by Row charity is UNICEF, chosen because of the international focus on childrens’ health initiatives. Other charities that have benefitted from The 9th Row include The Rescue Mission, Make a Wish Foundation, Share & Care for Special People Inc, Project Linus, SPCA, Helena Veterans Hospital, local food pantries and many other good causes in small towns and large cities around the world.
As in previous years, the 2018 The 9th Row pattern was designed by Karen Montgomery from The Quilt Company. As you travel, look for two different versions of the row: the silhouette appliqué version and the 3-D patchwork version. Use your scraps to make mini quilts to hang on the clothesline or hang collectible CharmStamps!
Feel free to use The 9th Row rows in your quilt, however they may not be counted as one of the 8 needed to win a prize. Like all other Row by Row kits, The 9th Row kits are available in-store only through October 31, 2018.
In 2017, Kelly Ann’s Quilting, in Warrentown, Virginia choose their local SPCA as their charity of choice. Their town does a “Dog Days of Summer” the first weekend in September. Kelly Ann loaded her car full of food/toys/cleaning supplies and donated over $350 in cash from her shop and her generous customers.

Today’s blog post was written by Raymond Steeves, quilt maker, designer, teacher and with his partners Jeff and Frank, former owner of 3 Dudes Quilting in Phoenix, AZ. A strong supporter of Row by Row Experience, he is the area coordinator for Arizona, New Mexico and Utah, and enjoys working with shop owners promoting Row by Row Experience and your local quilt shop. Raymond is always willing to share his love of quilting, and to continue to learn from others.
Thanks to Raymond and many others in the active community of quilters and shop owners around the world who support and enjoy Row by Row Experience!
