While there, we visited the Caribelle Batik Factory, where beautiful batik fabrics are created by artists using the technique of hand painting hot wax on fabric.
The colors of the dyes they used were as gorgeous as the tropical flowers on the island!
And as colorful as the local people we met!
Each piece was hung on a clothesline to dry in the breeze.
Of course they had a shop where we could purchase the fabric or items created with the fabrics. And of course, Debra and I did some shopping! In addition to dresses, scarves and gifts for family, I picked up a bag of scraps for the batiks. Every quilter can use more scraps! In snowy Syracuse I will enjoy this burst of color.
Have you ever shopped for fabric in another country? What do you look for?
