Lisa is the owner of this beautiful quilt shop located in Houston, Texas.  I asked her about how she tackles creating each year’s Row.  Lisa said, “A lot of thought goes into making our Row.  In total, it takes about three months, off and on, brainstorming, picking out fabric, and making a sample.”  She does use a designer.  Piecing is her personal preference.  She said, “I like the simplicity of piecing and I like to make it simple enough so anyone can make it.”  Since the 2017 Row by Row, On The Go has to be done by May, she has started already.  I can tell by her 2016 Row, 2017 will be a good one!

As a consumer of Rows, I enjoy shopping for and making them.  I bee-bop into a store and pick up a kit, thank the owner, chat a little with whoever is in the store, get back in my car, and move on.  I think of Row making like Thanksgiving dinner.  It takes days to shop and cook.  Your dinner guests sit down and in 15-20 minutes, they have consumed their meal then complain about how full they are.  I find this analogy pretty close.  I wanted the shop owners to tell us how long it takes them to cook the dinner so when we consume the meal, we know about the work that went into it.  The difference is, we don’t complain.  We love it!

I asked Lisa how may Rows she sold in 2016.  She said they did very well.  I am sure she’ll be that successful again this year.  Thank you, Lisa, for sharing your story.
