I prefer to have a printed list with the row pictures like last year. Will those be available?
Stay tuned.
Yes, I liked the list with pictures also. When we were on vacation, I used the photos to target specific shops :=)
Yes I liked last years better also. I find this year very confusing.
Give the map a try for now, Ann. The Picture Lists will be published soon–like tomorrow. You will be able to find them on the site under Search Shops then scroll down to search by region. Select your state. It will open up the best page on the site for your area and will be your go to spot for all thing RxR in your locality. Try it.
This is great! Thanks!!!
Row by Row should start Memorial Day till Labor Day so that people could incorporate thier summer vacations!!
Start date for RxR is often commented upon. It’s a summertime travel event so starting it on first day of summer, June 21, is a good day. And–more importantly–it’s a day that is not associated with a major holiday when shops have altered store hours.
Disagree! Please start June 1- this is when most people are able to start vacations- we miss a lot of opportunities as we travel state to state on one time through visits! Every shop employee has said they also wished it started sooner- every single one of them!
Great information. Thank you!
Can quilts be turned in before September 5th?
Oh yes! Bring your quilt to a participating shop to win a 25 fat quarter bundle as soon as you have it completed. That means quilted, bound, and labeled. Bring a list of shops that you used rows from to complete the winner’s certificate. If your quilt has that shop’s row, you might get an extra bonus prize. Good Luck!
Ive completed a quilt and turned it in for four yeats now. I was just confused by the calendar with September5 start of stitch challenge.
I can understand your inquiry better now. We are calling out the time between Sep. 5 and Oct. 31 as the Stitching Challenge Period now. It used to be called the Hibernation Period. The Challenge Period had greater meaning now in 2018 because we have changed the rules for this period. Unlike years past when you could not get patterns or kits during this period, this year you can still collect patterns still in-store only but they are not free anymore. Kits can still be purchased during this period, still in-store only. The Challenge Period ends Oct. 31 which is also the deadline to submit a quilt for a prize. Good luck to you in 2018. We really you and all our loyal RxR fans.
When you say “labeled,” exactly what must be included?
Hello, Kaye. The classic quilt ‘label.’ Most folks agree a quilt label should contain, at a minimum, your name, date, and where you live or completed the quilt. Many RxR fans include a list of shops represented or a note about the ‘journey’ taken to complete it.
Awesome! I learned so much more than I thought I knew about using the map. That search feature about typing in a shop name was one of them and typing in a destination town too. Very useful for sure.
There are cool aspects about this map but I liked being able to go to a state and bring up all of the pictures of that state and be able to print them off. Is there a place to do that?
Picture lists are being prepared. Stay tuned.
Thank you! I love the picture guide! I think it will be especially useful with the various sizes this year. Will you include the size?
The Picture Lists will not include the size. I have seen a sneak peek of the the 2018 Picture Lists and they are terrific. Cleanly designed for the best row presentation and shop info. It will be easy for you to discern which of the four new shapes the shop chose to use. The four sizes are 18×18 Foxy Boxy, 12×27 Short and Sassy, 6×54 Long Tall Sally, and 9×36 RxR Classic. Did you know that all four of these sizes equals the same in square inches? Yep! Have fun finding, collecting, and using all the shapes this summer.
Thank you! This is incredibly helpful! Just yesterday I was trying to sort everything in my state myself, and create a route. Let’s just say, it got a little crazy…
I love this map! Great job Row by Row staff!
Awesome idea, love it and will use it soon.
I do not care for the new set up. Not everyone posts pictures. I like pictures so that I may pick and chose where I want to visit. It also helps to see the picture if the store does not give you a colored picture when you just get the free pattern.
Okay, but . . . Missouri and Kansas are listed as “South”? Seriously? 😀
I love the google map! It’s great to be able to map out your entire road trip map from location to location and back! Great feature!
In my immediate area there aren’t many quilt shops to begin with. Last year most all within driving distance participated. This year only 1 of 4 within easy driving distance participated. This is quite disappointing. And yes if I haven’t already notified them in person. I will be. But I also Otis ed several other shops in neighboring areas don’t seem to be active this year either. Has there seen a rule change for the shops participation or did they see less business from people rowing or people just walking in for free patterns and not even looking at their shops and decided it wasn’t worth it? It’s a shame either way that these super quilt shops won’t be seen by anyone except those of us that are their regulars.
Are there any Row by Row with a tuba? Thanks.
Hello, Nona. So far, I have not seen a tuba. However there is an outstanding trumpet in PA. Here’s link to the picture list of PA rows and you will find that shops’s contact info. http://rbr.qtrop.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Pennsylvania-2018-Picture.pdf
This morning I try to listen to the instruction video on how to use the row by row. Whoever is doing the talking that volume I have is at maximum and I had to put it to my ear to even hear what little I could hear. What little I have seen so far last year’s was a lot better with a listing by States and by countries. May I suggest if there was something good about last year’s that you repeat it.
I love the video and instructions for the map. I’ve used the map in the past, then went to Google Maps to map my route – now just one step with the new tips! I am getting used to the new website. Seems to take a few more steps than in the past. I am disappointed that some shops stopped participating (NC) but there are new shops so I am just changing my purchases to participating shops during my travels across the US. Unlike others commenting, I would like to see RXR all year – for those of us that prefer to travel during cooler (and less busy) months.
