I had one license plate that hadn’t been sewn into anything so I thought…how about an eyeglass case? So, here it is:
First cut the license plate down to 4.5″ X 7.5″. It is pretty much that size but you will need to trim the length just a little. This will be the front of your eyeglass case. Find a complimentary fabric (I used some Row X Row fabric I had in my stash) and cut another rectangle 4.5″ X 7.5″. Lining for the eyeglass case will be two rectangles 4.5″ X 8.5″. You need the extra inch on the lining because you’ll be using that for the top edge trim.
I used some batting scraps I had and quilted both outside pieces (the plate and the complimentary fabric). Then after quilted, I cut them down to the right size of 4.5″ X 7.5″ trimming off the excess batting.
With ride sides facing, sew three sides together leaving the shorter end open (the end you want to be the opening/top of your case. Do this to both the outside fabric and the lining.
Turn the lining fabric right side out. Focus fabric will still be wrong side out. Stuff the lining inside the focus fabric lining up the top edges (ride sides will be facing). Sew around leaving a small opening for turning it.
Pull out the right sides through the opening then stuff the lining back into the glass case. Pull up just a small piece (about 1/4″) at the top and then press flat. Stitch all the way around sealing the small opening you used to turn the entire glass case right side out.
That’s it. click here
