Hawaii Row by Row Experience shared Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park's July 5, 2018, collapse event at Kīlauea Volcano's summit.

For you rowers who have been following the posts about our Volcano here on the Big Island... watch this and read about it... Pretty amazing.
Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park
AMAZING video from USGS Volcanoes:
Since August 4, 2018, Kīlauea Volcano's summit activity has diminished dramatically. But between mid-May and early August, 62 collapse events occurred, with each releasing energy equivalent to a magnitude-5+ earthquake and causing extensive ground shaking in the summit area. On July 5, 2018, USGS video cameras stationed at various summit locations happened to record one of the collapse events. The first clip shows the USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory entrance sign rattling in response to ground shaking. The second clip shows dramatic movement along the rock wall and a ground crack at the Jaggar Museum Overlook in Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park—visual reminders of hazards associated with the collapses. Most of the audio is wind noise, but the sound of rocks falling from steep crater walls within Halema‘uma‘u can also be heard as dust rises from the Kīlauea caldera. ... See MoreSee Less

Our beautiful has increased in land mass almost 900 new acres and still growing! This is sooo interesting to witness.
#LeilaniEstatesEruption #KilaueaVolcano UPDATE (July 31 at 7:15 AM): The ongoing Kīlauea eruption has surpassed the previous record for the longest eruption in the lower East Rift Zone. Today marks 89 days since the first fissure opened in #LeilaniEstates on May 3. In that time, 24 fissures have broken out — though only one is active right now: #fissure8. The channelized flow it is producing has moved at speeds upwards of 25 miles per hour as it continues to wind more than eight miles down the lower East Rift Zone. The current eruption has officially claimed 720 homes — along with beloved spots like Mālama Flats; Wai a Pele at Puʻu Kapoho (also known as Green Lāke in Kapoho Crater or Green Mountain); Waiʻopae Tidepools in Kapoho; and Ahalanui (Warm Ponds) to name a few. At this time #Pohoiki Bay/Boat Ramp and Isaac Hale Beach Park have been spared, but more than 13 square miles have been covered by lava — which has also created more than 825 acres of new land in the form of a lava delta filling what was once #Kapoho Bay. According to USGS HVO officials, 89 days later there is still no end in sight. They say that while the ongoing eruption has now exceeded the prior record, when you compare it to activity along the overall East Rift Zone — it's not all that long. Puʻu ʻŌʻō erupted nearly non-stop for over 35 years, while the Mauna Ulu eruption lasted almost 5 years. Geologists say compared to those events — an eruption lasting more than 88 days is not a particularly noteworthy record, but that does not in any way diminish the significant impacts the current eruption has had and continues to have on #Puna residents. Stay tuned to Hawaii News Now for the very latest developments, as we’ll have more on this milestone throughout the day #HInews #HawaiiNews #HNN #HawaiiNewsNow #WeAreYourSource (Aerial video taken May 22) ...
